Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Environmental Technician will provide support for the environmental management of the Palmer Project. This includes conducting field surveys, collecting, and analyzing environmental data, preparing reports to develop and implement environmental management plans. This is a full-time position for the 2023 exploration season, approximately May to October.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect and analyze environmental data, including water quality, soil samples, and vegetation assessments.
  • Conduct environmental field surveys in support of exploration activities.
  • Prepare reports on environmental monitoring results, including recommendations for mitigating potential impacts.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of environmental management plans.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including environmental permits and approvals.
  • Provide environmental training to project staff as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of environmental monitoring activities.
  • Participate in environmental audits and reviews.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in environmental monitoring, preferably in the mineral or mining exploration industry.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and permitting processes. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with project teams.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills; and written communication and reporting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proactive and collaborative attitude, committed to working in a team environment based on respect, trust and accountability in pursuing shared goals.
  • Mindset that factors personnel safety, environmental protection, and community commitment into every decision and action.
  • Self-motivation with good attention to detail.
  • Valid driver license with clean driving record.
  • All new employees must pass a background check.
  • Valid standard first aid certification a plus.

SCHEDULE

Work hours generally begin at 7:00 AM; schedule and rotations to be discussed.

PAY RATE

We offer competitive wages dependent upon experience and qualifications.

LOCATION

Palmer Project Camp near Haines, Alaska during the field season. Camp accommodation and meals are provided. Consideration for travel allowance and daily commuting may be available to residents of the Chilkat Valley on an individual basis.
