Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Geologist provides technical data to senior geological staff in support of mineral exploration at the Palmer Project near Haines, Alaska. This is a full-time position for the 2023 drill season, starting late May to approximately early October.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Core logging, sampling, and shipment preparation; section generation, data plotting, and geological interpretation.
  • Digital entry and management of drill logs, field data, and sample data.
  • Geological written and graphic reporting of exploration results.
  • Geological field mapping and prospecting.
  • Assistance with drill alignment, downhole surveying, and other exploration activities.
  • Additional duties may include, but not limited to, occasional assistance with environmental and geotechnical field surveys and data collection, and general camp and field program support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or equivalent required.
  • 1-5 years of professional experience as a geologist, including core logging experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of geologic fundamentals, ore systems, and mineral exploration.
  • Experience with exploration software a plus.
  • Proactive and collaborative attitude, committed to working in a team environment based on respect, trust and accountability in pursuing shared goals.
  • Mindset that factors personnel safety, environmental protection, and community commitment into every decision and action.
  • Effective communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivation with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to safely lift and move core boxes (up to 50 lbs) repetitively and work in a remote camp setting.
  • Valid driver license with clean driving record.
  • All new employees must pass a background check.
  • Valid standard first aid certification a plus.

SCHEDULE

Work hours generally begin at 7:00 AM; schedule and rotations to be discussed.

PAY RATE

We offer competitive wages dependent upon experience and qualifications.

LOCATION

Palmer Project camp near Haines, Alaska (7.5 Mile Porcupine Road). Camp accommodation and meals are provided. Additional consideration for daily commuting may be available to residents of the Chilkat Valley on an individual basis.
